fighting geckos
Tokay geckos fight for only a couple reasons in captivity. 1.You have more than one mail in your tank.(double check the sexes).Males are easily identified by a prominent row of preanal pores.Since I doubt you have a whole room to dedicate to a colony of two males and maybe 5-6 females keep them separated by screen or glass. 2. Its mating time.Yes your girls will fight too.You can easily tell its time for this. The boys will bark more often and the girls may slow down on eating.Best to just keep on eye on them. 3.Your enclosure is too small.Tokays are very territorial and must have their own space.I recommend at least 20 gallons of cage space to each gecko.Remember these guys grow to over a foot long, so give them space to sleep.A 6 foot tall human isn't comfortable on a twin bed either! 4.You have poor conditions in their cage.Temperature to low,high. Humidity not right.Not enough hiding places for each.The high temp in your cage must be between 85-90F, with the low around 75F during the day. Nigh time temps between 65-70F are good.Keep the humidity between 50-70% and they should be happy. 5.Not enough food provided for each ones appetite.These guys can and will eat a dozen crickets every other day.They are ferocious eaters.They will even take pinkies if you give them a try. All these things stress out these geckos and if they aren't biting you they're biting each other.
